Fun, Fauna and Food at the L.A. County Fair

It was the hottest day of the year (so far…) when I decided to go to the L.A. County Fair. Doesn’t faze me, though. I’m a midweek kind of lady; I don’t fancy weekend crowds if I can help it, and luckily enough for me, I could help it as my mother, my fair companion, had the week off. Waiting…See More

Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles: Totally! Our ‘80s Show

How does one describe a gay men’s chorus other than: it’s a chorus comprised of gay men? Oh, but it’s so much more than that! Established in the late 1970s, the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles is one of the largest choral ensembles in the USA. Through the power of music, the GMCLA is devoted to giving back to the community by promoting civil rights and acceptance.…See More

Exploring Hollywood on the Metro: A Day at Universal CityWalk and Bubba Gump Shrimp Co.

When it comes to visitors seeking advice about visiting Los Angeles, one of the most difficult questions to answer is about our public transit system. It is a system that is ever-growing and changing. LA might be late to the public transit game, but Metro is trying to change the most car-dependent city in America, and that is not an easy task. I have been riding Metro for twelve years and have never been in possession of a driver’s license. I have learned to…See More

Take a ride to Griffith Park Horse Rentals

My inner five year old squealed like a schoolgirl when this assignment got the green light. I was born in horse country and horses were everywhere and in my life. I wouldn’t realize how lucky I had been until I moved across the USA to suburban Pennsylvania at the age of six. Now, horses aren’t very far at all and I have the beauty of Griffith Park to enjoy a generous hour worth of horseback riding.Deciding to take my niece along for her first experience with horses, we picked a gorgeous day in…See More
